Any District of Columbia resident, regardless of age or household composition, can contact the 211 Warmline for help with navigating District resources.

When can I call the 211 Warmline?

You can call the 211 Warmline Monday through Friday, from 9 AM – 5 PM. If you call after hours, please leave a voicemail, and a call agent will return your call within 1-2 business days.

What if I live in Maryland or Virginia?

Maryland and Virginia both have dedicated 211 lines! Dial (301)-970-9888 to get connected to Prince George’s County, Maryland 211. Dial 1-(800)-230-6977 directly to get connected to Virginia 211.

What’s the difference between DC’s 211 Warmline and 311?

The 211 Warmline provides non-crisis, non-emergency information and referrals for social services like housing, food, and clothing. The 311 service handles non-emergency city issues, such as reporting broken meters, trash collection problems, potholes, abandoned vehicles, parking enforcement, tree services, illegal dumping, and street light repairs.

What type of services will I receive if I call 211 Warmline?

The 211 Warmline provides service navigation, information, and referrals to District agencies and community-based organizations, as well as support from 211 community responders for more complex, ongoing social service needs.

What is service navigation?

Service navigation is the process in which our call agents provide education, information, linkage, and referral to applicable organizations that fit your needs.

Who are the community responders?

Community Responders are trained staff of the District’s Healthy Families, Thriving Communities Collaboratives who can be dispatched from the 211 Warmline to support callers who require assistance that cannot be resolved over the phone or through a referral.

Can I call the 211 warmline for multiple needs?

Yes! The 211 warmline is available to assist with any non-emergency, non-crisis, social service needs that may arise. Feel free to call 2-1-1 as many times for assistance.

Does the 211 Warmline provide financial support?

The 211 Warmline does not currently provide direct cash assistance to residents of the District of Columbia.
